Whisper Lace Yarn Choices

I’m always curious how different yarns will work up in a pattern and how that might change the look, drape, or dimensions of the project. I like to explore it with my designs as well.

So, I worked up this sample using Malabrigo Ultimate Sock 658 Zinnia. The drape was lovely and had a similar drape and sheen compared to the merino/silk blend I used to design the pattern. You can’t beat all the beautiful colors available from Malabrigo!

Then I found this lovely MoonDrake Merino/Linen skein in a lovely green colorway: Sprout. I couldn’t quite get pattern gauge with this yarn. I had more sts in 4 inches than the pattern calls for. So, the finished scarf wasn’t as wide.

Shows the Moondrake yarn on the left and Emma’s Yarn Super Silky that the pattern was designed with.

The Merino and linen blend added a drape for the scarf. I love the crispness of the stitches this single-ply yarn brought to the scarf. I purchased the Moondrake Merino/Linen yarn at Unwind in Lee Summit, and they still have some in stock here.

I hope this inspires you to try something different if you want to!

You can purchase the pattern here on my website and on Ravelry here. I’m extending the sale on my patterns until the end of October!
